This composition tries to capture the mystical journey of a fairy set loose from her fort. The fairy loses her way, but is being hunted (to be brought back to safety) by the rest of her pack of fairies. While the fairy is lost she experiences Déjà Vu on numerous occasions; places seem familiar, but she does not quite recognise them. I had the idea of capturing these familiar and not-so-familiar places in the music by having certain motifs return in slightly different ways. I tried to build up a sense of drama of this chase by having various places of musical tension with climaxes that do not quite resolve in conjunction with strong rhythmic pulses. When the pack of the other fairies begin to close in on the fairy, the music becomes more calm but with small tense outbursts when they do not quite catch the fairy. It is not until the end of the piece, when the fairy is found, that one single note is played on the flute to depict this resolution.
